Of sorts...Kashmir

So, I went to Kashmir this last weekend.

It was amazing.

Funny how that word can be both positive and negative, no?

We started out driving at 6 AM, both me and my mom a bit agitated, my dad perversely happy, along the road. My father insists on starting out any long drive with an hour long prayer on the CD player of the car: I guess he doesn't find it slightly besides the point to ignore most of the prayer.

Personally, I dont count prayer much as background music. Personally, its amazing how hypocritical really religious people can be. Personally, I believe more in faith than religion--but isn't that what all people my age say? (Before we have the pulps of our free will beat out of us, maybe. Before we're absolutely terrified out of our wits of the terrors of the world, forced back into following a path of God set by others.)

My relationship with God is strictly personal (there's that word again). (S)he knows me (its a he in my mind), and He helps me sort things out. He helps me know what I know, if you know what i mean.

Not that I judge them in any way, my own boyfriend being one, but I'm not exactly your run-of-the-mill rebellious Atheist. Far from.

The way was long: an almost 20 hour route to where we needed to be, maybe a little more, aided by the fact that we stopped at Amritsar to see the Golden Temple again (an annual trip, but always memorable, to be sure.)

First, I got stared down by half of the people in Amritsar. I'm pale. and tall for women in India, and pretty in their standards. In the US, I doubt that many people notice me at all. But, that is on the whole unknown to me. I give no facade of arrogance, pride, or even self-esteem in this matter: i lack them all mostly. And even if I didn't, what's the point of being proud of your looks?

You didn't make them, you were given them. Its like being proud of a sandwich the boy at Subway made you.

I was remotely uncomfortable, but mostly because of the sweat dripping down my forehead and beading on my upper lip. (this is all while in line at the Golden Temple. Miles long. Ok, maybe not, but it felt it)

Finally, FINALLY, we were in. And when i got down to bow at the holy book (Guru Granth Sahib), I couldn't get out of there. People were pushing, pulling, thinking me the enemy (undoubtedly) and trying for me to make way for them, which i couldn't.

You'd think Indian people would have the decency AT LEAST to give up the pushing at the most holy place of Sikhism.

I mean, goddamn (excuse my Punjabi.)

This is long enough, I'll probably continue soon

Why does it always seem that when I'm getting on to Xanga i'm apologizing for how LONG its been since i last said anything? I'm really horrible, and sorry.

A new school year (well, relatively new now) brings a lot of new things..I guess i'm finally going to get semi-active in a club at school, not sure. I drew something for the ICA (indian Cultural association club) though vey proud. Kind of.

*kind of blurry from shrinkage*
Anyways, does it ever seem like...you really like someone  (not sexually, per se) for a day...and then you meet them again and realize that said person is a complete ASS?

That happened to me when i went clubbing a few weeks ago...rather bad experience in retrospect, actually....if you can understand, i now COMPLETELY avoid this person at all costs (my friend ankita actually had to hold my arm to keep me from running away when i saw this person on the street ^^;;;) I cant believe how irrational i'm acting--i never knew i could DISLIKE someone so much!

oddness.

Good luck, all

-Misha-

ps--REALLY blurry pic of us going clubbing: nidhi, me and akku (none of whom is the person i avoid now )

*********************************

its been a while, hasn't it?

Yesterday, Me and Ankita went to the "Sahara" premiere at the Paramount theatre
It was really fun! We actually got to see Matthew McConaughey in the flesh!!! (he's the guy from Sahara and Wedding planner, etc)

But...i think...

Ankita agrees with me...that Matthew was stoned at the premiere (or at least drunk )
He was wearing kind of..crappy clothes..a black baseball cap...jeans...and an unbuttoned shirt (he didn't even look all that clean )

BUT...still..he's a handsome guy:

anyways <3

...and the waves...overcome me...:(
